Senior Geotechnical Engineer

AESI is seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer.


Candidates should have experience with geotechnical site exploration projects including managing schedules, preparing proposals, budgets and written geotechnical reports for commercial, residential and municipal clients. Position requires strong geotechnical analysis and design skills, excellent communication and organizational skills and a proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships. Local experience a plus.

Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering 



· Minimum of 5 years of experience, Washington P.E. License.  

Staff Engineer/
Field Technician

We are currently hiring for entry level and senior Field Technicians.

The position will mostly involve construction monitoring and soil density testing on construction sites. This is a great way to get into the industry, learn on the job, and gain experience within the AEC consulting industry.

AESI has a thorough training program, including an on-site soils lab, biweekly roundtables, onsite job training, and direct access to AESI's Principals and Project Managers through AESI mentoring and training program.


Applicants must have a minimum of 1-year experience with a nuclear, moisture-density gauge, be able to lift 30 lbs. safely, own their own vehicle, and currently live in the Puget Sound region.

Salary: $24.00 - $30.00+ per hour depending on experience

  • Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response Training (encouraged)

  • Driver's License (Required)


AESI’s hydrogeology group has an immediate opening for a Staff/Project Hydrogeologist in our Mount Vernon office.

This is an opportunity to experience a variety of work experiences and receive strong mentorship while working closely with other AESI technical disciplines in a casual work environment.

Responsibilities for this position may include:

  • Performing a variety of geologic and hydrogeologic field work including subsurface exploration, aquifer testing, infiltration testing, groundwater level monitoring, and water quality sampling.

  • Analysis of geologic and hydrogeologic data.

  • Analysis of water rights data.

  • Preparation of technical reports and graphics.

Education and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Hydrogeology, or related discipline

  • Washington State Geologist-in-Training (GIT) license or have the qualifications to obtain within 6 months of being hired.

  • Washington State Hydrogeologist or Geologist License preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • 0 to 8 years of consulting experience in the field of geology, hydrogeology, and/or water rights.

  • Working knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations (e.g. water rights, stormwater management)

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • General understanding of and interpretation of hydrogeologic data

  • Excellent organization, project management, and client communication skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Salary: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
