Project/Senior Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist

Job Description

Associated Earth Sciences, Inc. (AESI) is a multi-disciplinary, professional geotechnical engineering, environmental and hydrogeological consulting firm that provides focused solutions to a wide range of private and public sector clients. Our success depends on the advancement and achievement of our employees. AESI’s growing environmental group has an immediate opening for a senior environmental engineer/geologist/environmental scientist for our Kirkland office.

Responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Managing and providing senior oversight and review for Phase I and Phase II ESAs

  • Performing and managing UST site assessments, environmental explorations, and sampling of various media

  • Managing and providing senior oversight of hazardous materials sampling and surveys

  • Preparation of proposals, cost estimates, permits, work plans, health and safety plans, graphics and technical documents

  • Coordination with AESI project managers and client managers in evaluating and addressing environmental concerns during due diligence, design and construction phases of development and redevelopment projects

  • Providing senior oversight for environmental compliance, waste handling/reporting, and permitting

  • Developing and tracking project budgets and schedules

  • Assisting with business development activities

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental or Civil Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in the field of environmental assessment, compliance and remediation

  • Working knowledge of relevant local, state and federal regulations (MTCA, CERCLA, RCRA, etc.)

  • Managing and providing technical oversight on multiple environmental projects

  • Field oversight for site assessments and compliance sampling

  • Data compilation, analysis, regulatory compliance and reporting

  • Excellent organization, project management, and client communication skills

  • Preparation of competitive proposals, cost estimates and SOQs

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Training and Licensing Requirements:

  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certificate, with current annual refresher training if applicable

  • UST Site Assessor

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Engineer/Geologist License (preferred, but not required)

Staff Environmental Geologist

Job Description

AESI’s growing environmental group has an immediate opening for a Staff Environmental Geologist in our Kirkland office. This is a great opportunity to increase your technical skills and capabilities on a variety of projects in a casual work environment.

Responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Conducting Phase I and II environmental site assessments

  • Performing groundwater, soil and soil vapor sampling

  • Oversight of UST removals and excavation of contaminated soil

  • Interpretation of subsurface conditions, preparation of detailed exploration logs and subsurface cross-sections

  • Analysis of soil and groundwater contamination

  • Data compilation and preparation of technical reports

Education and certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in geology, hydrogeology, or related discipline

  • Valid driver’s license

  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certificate, with current annual refresher training if applicable

  • Geology-in-training certificate is desirable

Required skills and experience:

  • 2 to 5 years of environmental assessment or related experience

  • Ability to perform field activities in a variety of settings and weather conditions

  • Basic understanding of relevant state and federal regulations (MTCA, CERCLA, RCRA, etc.)

  • Analysis and interpretation of geologic and environmental data

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

SENIOR ENGINEER

AESI is seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer. Candidates should have experience with geotechnical site exploration projects including managing schedules, preparing proposals, budgets and written geotechnical reports for commercial, residential and municipal clients.

Position requires strong geotechnical analysis and design skills, excellent communication and organizational skills and a proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.

Local experience a plus.
