Soils Technician/Construction Observation

Associated Earth Sciences, Inc. (AESI) is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm specializing in geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, geology, and geophysics. AESI has provided these services in the Puget Sound region to municipal, commercial, and residential clients since 1981. We consider our interdisciplinary approach critical to the success of our engineering philosophy, approaching our projects with a big picture perspective that incorporates the geologic and hydrogeologic context of our sites into our understanding of our projects.

OPPORTUNITY AND IMPACT

We are seeking hard-working, self-motivated candidates to join our team. This position will provide you with a valuable opportunity to gain experience in both the construction and consulting industries. In this position, you will provide construction observation services in support of a variety of projects including schools, public service buildings, municipal, residential, and commercial projects in your local community. You will see projects through the construction phase and witness progress from the ground up.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform soil density testing on construction sites

  • Site specific observations

  • Read, review, and interpret project documents including geotechnical reports, plans, and laboratory test results

  • Produce daily field reports based on site observations

 

EXPERIENCE GAINED IN THIS POSTITION:

  • Geotechnical engineering consulting experience, particularly in the Puget Sound lowlands.

  • Expand knowledge of regional geology

  • Gain familiarity with the regulations of area municipalities

  • Experience working with a variety of industries and individuals

  • Educational Roundtables, on the job training, and direct access to professionals in the field for mentoring and training.

  • Onsite Soil Lab Training

 

DAILY WORK ENVIRONMENT AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Primary field work in variable weather conditions on construction sites.

  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.

  • Driver’s license and current insurance.

  • Personal vehicle to travel between offices and job sites (mileage reimbursable).

  • Optional overtime.

  • Voluntary Nights and weekends.

  • Reside in the Puget Sound region.

  • Background check required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree or actively pursuing one.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Dependable and problem solving skills.

  • Interest in working outdoors.

  • Experience working in fast paced environments. Construction experience is a plus.

 

COMPENSATION PACKAGE 

Job Type: Full time

Salary Range: $25-$30 per hour
